Academic Progression in Nursing: Highlighting Ellis Medicine, The Belanger School of Nursing’s and Siena College Baldwin Nursing’s Dual Degree Program.
Ellis Medicine, The Belanger School of Nursing has entered into a dual degree partnership with Siena College, Baldwin School of Nursing. New York State Education Office of Professions recently approved the dual degree program and students are enrolled for Fall 2018. This partnership will create a pathway for students to earn two degrees, an associate’s and a bachelor’s in nursing through a seamless program.
According to Marilyn Stapleton, Director, The Belanger School of Nursing, “The move to get registered nurses to earn four-year degrees is driven in part by the nursing profession itself. The effort has been long-running, with greater success in New York City than upstate. The reason for the push is simple: Studies have shown that nurses with more education provide better care. This program raises the level of quality of care and professional practice overall and will change the landscape of nursing education in this area.”
