The Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN) invites nursing educators, nursing administrators, practitioners, and those interested in nursing education to submit a written proposal that can be developed into a presentation for the OADN annual convention in Indianapolis, IN Nov. 6-8, 2020. The call is for workshops (4 hours), concurrent sessions (50 minutes), and posters.
The World Health Organization has declared 2020 to be the Year of the Nurse. In keeping with the global declaration, this year’s OADN convention theme is Vision 2020: ADN Educators Leading the Way. The convention will focus on the important and unique contributions of associate degree nursing educators. OADN will highlight the many unique ways in which ADN educators, practitioners, and administrators are leading change in their programs, schools, and communities.
Top consideration will be given to abstracts that present well-designed demonstration projects, particularly those that are evidence-based or include data. Abstracts that include theoretical frameworks and meta-analysis are strongly encouraged to include a robust component that demonstrates application in ADN education and/or other settings.
All submissions should indicate how faculty or administrators have demonstrated leadership strategies to address one or more of the following objectives:
- Identify innovative solutions to transform clinical nursing education and support best practices across the continuum of care.
- Advance ideas in the design and implementation of nursing courses to pave the way for a safer healthcare environment.
- Focus on building a stronger professional presence using research, innovation, and simulation in collaboration with healthcare partners.
- Consider how creative educational experiences can support success with licensure and transition to practice.
- Promote strategies to create nurse leaders who will contribute to a changing health care system regionally, nationally, and globally.
Considering these objectives, specific topics suggested include, but are not limited to:
- Fostering and demonstrating leadership in students, faculty, administrators and nurses in practice.
- Alternative and non-traditional clinical education sites
- Innovative curricular redesign (ie. integration of social determinants of health)
- Practicing in a team-based care environment
- Changing nursing roles and practice environments
- Using health data and technology for decision-making
- Diversity and the workforce
- Research and evidence-based practice
- Expanding access to education through creative academic progression and other strategies
