Message from the Leadership, August 2018

160504 OADN Meyer New 193x246

Dear OADN Members,

It is with great pleasure that I am able to share the following message from OADN Foundation President Jose Alejandro.  The OADN Foundation exists to promote, encourage, and foster associate degree nursing education through scholarship, research, and other educational opportunities.  The Foundation has continually supported OADN members through scholarships and grants, and this year I am particularly proud to announce that available funding has increased.  This assistance is vital as our members and students continue their educational journey and engage in research.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Foundation Board of Directors for their engagement as the Foundation moves forward in a renewed and exciting direction.  I hope you will consider supporting the Foundation so they can continue providing these significant awards.

My very best,

Donna Meyer, MSN, RN, ANEF, FAADN

CEO, OADN

I can’t believe summer is halfway through with the record heat that is occurring across the country. That being said, we are getting much closer to the OADN Annual Conference in the great city of Philadelphia. The OADN Foundation is excited to announce over $15,000 in scholarships and awards. I am extremely honored and humbled to serve as your OADN Foundation President. The OADN Foundation Board of Directors has been extremely busy in revamping and positioning the foundation for future growth and life-long sustainability. Activities include the refinement of the OADN Foundation Policies & Procedures, investments for future growth and building the platform so that the foundation can partner with other organizations in education, grant and research opportunities.

This year, the foundation will continue the tradition of the 50/50 Raffle that benefits future scholarships and awards. The foundation will also introduce the “2019 Attendee Package Raffle.” This package will include 2019 registration fees and host hotel accommodations. I will be personally sponsoring this package as an opportunity to raise money for the foundation and provide an educational opportunity for the winner. Learning opportunities are essential to disseminate the great work that many individuals and organizations are doing to promote the importance of having associate degree prepared nurses within every aspect of population health.he OADN Foundation is excited to announce over $15,000 in scholarships and awards. My sincere gratitude to OADN Past President Pat Smart and OADN Deputy Director Bryan Hoffman who have simplified the scholarships and awards application process. As educators, we often times know of someone who goes above and beyond the requirement of an educator. It’s time we start recognizing this work at the national level.
