Dr. Cynthia Maskey is the Dean of Health Professions at Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) in Springfield, Illinois. She has been affiliated with LLCC for over 30 years. She served as faculty in the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program until 2006 and then served as the Associate Dean of Nursing from 2006 until 2009. In 2009, she took the position as the Dean of Health Professions directing eleven nursing and allied health programs and more than 45 faculty and staff. Prior to working at LLCC, Dr. Maskey worked as a pediatric nurse in both the hospital and community settings. She was one of the pilot group to take the NLN Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) examination in 2005, maintaining her CNE certification since that time. Dr. Maskey has served over seventeen years as an ACEN (the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc.) program evaluator and was appointed to the ACEN Evaluation Review Panel (ERP) in 2011.
In November 2020, she is beginning her second term as the Treasurer for the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN) and is a member of several national nursing organizations including ANA and ANA-IL, and Sigma Theta Tau International. She is currently serving on the Illinois Nursing Workforce Center Board. She has presented at local, state, and national conferences and completed her dissertation work on the relationship between reflective judgment and critical thinking in senior associate degree nursing students. Dr. Maskey received her ADN from Lincoln Land Community College, her baccalaureate in nursing from Northern Illinois University, her master’s in nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Peoria Campus and her PhD in nursing from Indiana University School of Nursing at Indianapolis University-Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI).
