Matthew Morris

Matthew Morris, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, CENP is the Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer of Atlantic General Hospital/Health System in Berlin, Maryland.  Prior to his current role, he was the Director of Nursing for Surgery, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and Vascular Access at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.  His clinical and leadership background spans greater than 20 years.

Dr. Morris earned a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from The University of Alabama’s Capstone College of Nursing.  He additionally holds both a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Healthcare Services Leadership and Management from the University of Maryland.  Mr. Morris is board certified through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Nurse Executive.

Dr. Morris published “Development and Evaluation of a Nurse Leadership Succession Planning Strategy in an Academic Medical Center” in the Journal of Nursing Administration (JONA), Jul/Aug 2020 edition.  In 2019, he co-presented “Fresh Eyes Focused on Safety: Nurses Partner with Engineering Students to Eliminate CLABSIs in Cardiac Surgery Patients” at the Association for Vascular Access (AVA) 2019 Annual Scientific Meeting.  In 2018, he co-presented “How to Integrate a Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) into the Quality Improvement Infrastructure” at the 2018 PlaneTree national conference.  He has guest lectured on the topic of nursing certification at the University Of Maryland School Of Nursing, at the 30th Annual Wilmer Nursing Conference and for the Delmarva Chapter of AORN.

Dr. Morris is former faculty for the Institute for Johns Hopkins Nursing presenting on the topic of healthcare finance for national and international participants of the Nurse Leadership Academy and Advanced Nurse Leadership Academy. Dr. Morris is adjunct faculty at Cecil College in North East, Maryland.
