Washington, D.C. – August 7, 2025 – The Academy of Associate Degree Nursing (AADN), housed within the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN), is proud to announce the selection of 16 distinguished leaders as Fellows of the Academy in the Class of 2025.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Academy, a milestone celebrating a decade of recognizing excellence, leadership, and enduring contributions to associate degree nursing education and practice. Since its founding in 2015, the AADN has served as a national platform to honor individuals whose work has advanced the visibility, impact, and value of associate degree-prepared nurses across healthcare and education.
The AADN honors outstanding individuals who have made enduring and substantial contributions to associate degree nursing education and practice. Fellows are recognized for their visionary leadership, scholarly excellence, and commitment to advancing high-quality, accessible nursing education. This year’s cohort represents an extraordinary group of professionals whose impact spans education, leadership, health equity, and advocacy.

Each year, the Academy honorarily inducts esteemed colleagues who have made a lasting impact on health and education through their support of associate degree nursing. Honorary Fellows come from diverse backgrounds, including education, practice, advocacy, and service.
The first Honorary Fellow, inducted in 2015, was Dr. Susan Hassmiller, PhD, RN, FAAN, who received her Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) from Broward College, before going on to become one of the most iconic and influential nursing leaders of the 21st century, exemplifying the transformative power of associate degree nursing education.
