Candidate Statement

I am honored to express my interest in serving as an At-Large Director. My journey through associate degree nursing education has not only shaped my professional career but transformed its trajectory, beginning with my own graduation from an ADN program. This foundation has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the vital role associate degree nursing programs play in preparing competent, compassionate nurses who meet the healthcare needs of our communities.

Over the past ten years, I have served in a variety of leadership roles within ADN education, ranging from faculty member to department chair. These experiences have provided me with invaluable insight into both the operational and strategic aspects of associate degree nursing programs. My understanding of advocacy and shared governance was further strengthened during my tenure as Faculty Associate President, where I championed the needs of both faculty and students.

Throughout my career in associate degree nursing education, I have remained committed to preparing faculty to effectively educate the next generation of nurses. My primary areas of focus have been engaged learning, faculty development, and fostering clinical judgment and decision-making skills in nursing students. Through presentations and workshops conducted at associate degree institutions across the country, I have contributed to advancing the quality of nursing education and supporting faculty excellence.

I am also proud to serve as a Fellow in the Academy of Associate Degree Nursing (AADN), an honor that reflects my commitment to leadership, scholarship, advocacy, and excellence within associate degree nursing education. Additionally, my professional service includes serving as a reviewer for the OADN Journal, presenting at OADN and TCCTA conferences, advising the Alpha Delta Nu Honor Society, and serving as a board member of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. at both the local and regional levels.

Beyond my professional responsibilities, I value opportunities to read, travel, and spend time camping with family and friends. These experiences help me maintain perspective, foster creativity, and bring balance to my leadership approach.

As an At-Large Director, I would be committed to leveraging my experiences, passion for faculty and student success, and dedication to associate degree nursing education to support the mission of OADN. I am eager to contribute to the continued growth and advancement of the organization while advocating for the needs of its members and the communities they serve.
