Candidate Statement

I am writing to express my interest in serving on the OADN Board of Directors. With twenty years of experience in nursing, education, and leadership, I am deeply committed to advancing associate degree nursing and promoting diversity within the nursing workforce—values that strongly align with OADN’s mission.

For more than a decade, I have provided academic and administrative leadership within the Seattle Colleges system, overseeing Nursing Assistant, LPN, and ADN programs. My work focuses on cultivating inclusive learning environments, supporting faculty development, and ensuring that our curriculum reflects contemporary nursing practice. I have also contributed to statewide efforts to expand academic progression pathways and strengthen support for diverse and English Language Learner students.

My leadership extends to building strong academic–practice partnerships through the Technical Advisory Committee, regional clinical placement collaborations, and grant-funded initiatives supporting incumbent workers becoming nurses. At the policy level, I serve on the Board of the Washington Center for Nursing and contributed to the steering committee that helped shape the Workforce Education Investment Act, resulting in significant funding and improved faculty recruitment and retention.

OADN has been central to my professional growth. Through the Leadership Institute and my fellowship in the Academy of Associate Degree Nursing, I have benefited from national leadership development and now mentor emerging nurse leaders. I would be honored to contribute to OADN’s continued impact.
