
Dr. DeLeon Addison is a demonstrated nurse educator and national leader in nursing education, with more than 20 years of combined experience in clinical practice, leadership, and education. She currently serves as the Department Chair of Nursing at Dallas College North Lake Campus, where she is committed to strengthening nursing education and preparing students for successful transition from the classroom to clinical practice.
Dr. Addison is recognized for her work advancing clinical judgment instruction in ADN education. Through faculty development workshops, Addison Academics, and collaborations with the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN), she has influenced more than 1,000 nurse educators and supported improved classroom-to-clinical integration nationwide. Her initiatives, including a faculty bootcamp and innovative healthcare camps for high school students, have strengthened faculty effectiveness, student outcomes, and the visibility of ADN nursing programs as vital community resources.
Previously, Dr. Addison served as an Associate Professor of Nursing at Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, Texas, where she also served as accreditation committee chair and adjunct coordinator. She has also held leadership roles as Foundations Level Coordinator and Faculty Association President. She has been affiliated with organizations including the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau, and Chi Eta Phi Professional Nursing Sorority, and has served in various educational and community leadership roles.
Dr. Addison earned an Associate of Science in Nursing from Bryant & Stratton College, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Rockford College, and a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Gonzaga University. She also completed a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Informatics and a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nursing Leadership from Troy University. She is a graduate of the Active Learning Academy and founded Addison Academics to promote innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
Outside of her professional work, Dr. Addison enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading, and scrapbooking.
