Candidate Statement
Serving on the nominating committee for the Organization of Associate Degree Nurses feels less like an obligation and more like tending a garden I care about. I am an original ADN graduate, and my professional career has been shaped by ADN education at every stage. I have primarily taught in ADN programs and currently serve as a nursing faculty member at Lansing Community College, where I am also a member of the Academic Senate. My work keeps me closely connected to students, educators, workforce needs, and the realities of patient care.
My service with OADN has deepened my appreciation for the responsibility and impact of leadership. I have served on the nominating committee, chaired it, and have been both a past and current member of the abstract review committee. Through these roles, I have seen firsthand how the thoughtful selection of leaders shapes the direction, integrity, and visibility of the ADN voice. Choosing leaders is not a routine task; it carries ripple effects that influence how ADN perspectives are represented and respected in broader nursing conversations.
Personally, I bring a collaborative, reflective, and service-driven approach to leadership. I am deeply motivated to ensure that ADN voices are not only heard but also amplified. Serving on the nominating committee allows me to give back to an organization that has given me so much while helping to shape a future that continues to support ADN students, educators, and the communities they serve.
