
Dr. Trevathan retired as Dean of Allied Health-Nursing-Athletics & Kinesiology at Gavilan College. She currently works as an independent consultant. Prior to this current position, she has held position as Director of Nursing at San Mateo Community College, Associate Dean for Educational Outreach at the University of San Francisco. She has over 30 years of leadership experience in the healthcare arena. Her professional experiences are diverse stemming from medical insurance underwriter to the full spectrum of professional nursing services. Her past experiences range from administrative services, evaluator of nursing care, program implementation, personnel management, professional development, and nursing education.
Dr. Trevathan is a Virginia Anderson and Sigma Theta Tau Fellow. Through her philanthropy, she is committed to be a national and international voice for leadership development for nurses. Her dedication to the profession is geared toward meeting tomorrow’s healthcare needs by fostering research that are innovative and interdisciplinary in nature.
Dr. Trevathan was inducted in 2025 into the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing, the 10th Anniversary Class of Fellows into the Fellows of the Academy of Associate Degree Nursing. She is the Past-President of COADN North, an active participant of OADN Member Advocacy & Outreach Task Force and recently voted as the OADN Board of Directors for the Western Region Director. She is proud to be a member of the national voice for community College nursing education and the associate degree pathway.
