Candidate Statement

I am honored to submit my candidacy for the position of Southwest Region Director with the OADN Board of Directors. As a non-traditional college graduate from Dallas College, formerly Dallas County Community College El Centro Campus, my journey into nursing has been shaped by resilience, purpose, and a deep commitment to student success.

I began my career in nursing with a strong desire to serve and quickly discovered my passion for nursing education. Today, I serve as a Dean of Nursing, where I lead initiatives focused on student retention, academic success, and NCLEX readiness. My professional experience includes curriculum oversight, faculty development, accreditation support, and implementation of innovative student support models. I have collaborated with faculty and staff across multiple campuses to strengthen outcomes and improve equity in nursing education.

In addition to my professional work, I am committed to service and leadership within academic and professional communities. I value collaboration, transparency, and strategic problem-solving, and I strive to empower both students and faculty to achieve excellence.

Personally, my journey as a non-traditional student fuels my passion for advocacy and access in associate degree nursing education. I bring determination, empathy, and visionary leadership to every role I serve. If elected, I will actively contribute to advancing OADN’s mission and strengthening the voice of nursing education across the Southwest Region.
