Dawn Gordon: Candidate Page

Dawn M. Gordon, PhD, MS, MBA, RN

Candidate for Midwest Region Representative

Dawn Gordon

Hello! My name is Dawn Gordon, and I am the Dean of Science and Nursing at Minnesota West Community and Technical College in Worthington, MN. For the past 19 years, I’ve directed the ADN and PN programs, and I’ve spent 26 years serving in nursing education, leadership, and administration across rural communities in the Midwest.

My journey with OADN began 19 years ago with program membership. Since then, I’ve served as a Minnesota state chapter leader, contributed on the national conference planning committee, and reviewed abstracts and posters for the annual conference. I’ve also chaired the Minnesota AD/PN Deans and Directors group, gaining valuable experience in state-level leadership. My academic and professional interests include nursing leadership, burnout prevention, cultural and global nursing, and innovative learning strategies in rural education. I’ve published in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to a book published by the NLN. I also serve as an accreditation peer evaluator for ACEN, supporting nursing programs nationwide.

I hold a PhD from South Dakota State University, dual master’s degrees in Management and Business Administration from Colorado Technical University, and a BA in Nursing from

Augustana University. Clinically, my background includes cardiac/critical care, medical-surgical, and emergency nursing in both rural and urban settings. I currently serve as vice president of my local rural hospital advisory board.

I would be honored to represent you as the Midwest Director on the OADN Board. Thank you for your support and your vote.
