NCC Sends Letter to House Rules Committee Urging Support for Amendment 103 to the FY 2027 NDAA
On June 25, fifty-four members of the Nursing Community Coalition (NCC) sent a letter to the House Rules Committee, along with the leadership of the House Armed Services Committee, urging support for amendment 103 to H.R.8800, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2027. This amendment is based on H.R.3170, the Improving Access to Workers’ Compensation for Injured Federal Workers Act.

NCC Thanks Members of Congress for Introducing a CRA Joint Resolution on Student Loan Limits
On June 24, fifty-three members of the NCC sent a letter thanking Representatives Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR-01), Lauren Underwood (D-IL-14), and John Mannion (D-NY-22), along with Senators Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Angela Alsobrooks (D-MD), for introducing a Congressional Review Act Joint Resolution (H.J.Res.189/S.J.Res.196). This measure would invalidate the Department of Education’s final rule on federal student loan limits.

NCC Thanks Members of Congress for Introducing the SHARE Act
On June 16, forty-eight members of the NCC sent a letter thanking Senators Peter Welch (D-VT), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), and Angus King (I-ME), along with Representatives Tracey Mann (R-KS-01) and Joe Neguse (D-CO-02) for introducing the bipartisan and bicameral States Handling Access to Reciprocity for Employment (SHARE) Act (S.1101/H.R.2332), and urged its passage this year. The SHARE Act will help ensure the licensure process operates as intended for nurses seeking multi-state licensure under the Nurse Licensure Compact.

NCC Thanks Senator Merkley and Congresswoman Kiggans for Introducing the Nursing is a Professional Degree Act
On June 11, all sixty-five members of the NCC sent a letter thanking Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) Congresswoman Jen Kiggans (R-VA-02), along with other supporters, for introducing the bipartisan and bicameral Nursing is a Professional Degree Act (S.4568/H.R.8691) and urging its passage this year.

NCC Statement on the House FY 2027 LHHS-ED Appropriations Bill
On June 10, the NCC issued a statement applauding the House Appropriations Committee for providing an overall funding increase for the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs and level funding for the National Institute of Nursing Research, along with recognition of nursing as a professional degree in its FY 2027 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education bill.
