Washington, DC — The Organization for Associate Degree Nursing
(OADN) Foundation is pleased to announce a generous investment from Brian Bright that will support senior Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) students through the newly established Brian Bright Senior ADN Student Scholarships.
Beginning this year, the investment will fund five annual scholarships of $2,000 each for senior ADN students enrolled in OADN program member schools. This commitment will support students over the next five years, through 2030, providing financial assistance during the final stage of their nursing education.
To further celebrate and recognize student achievement, up to two scholarship recipients from the OADN Annual Convention host city, or an adjacent city within the same state, will receive priority consideration. This reflects the investor’s desire to congratulate and meet scholarship recipients during the OADN Annual Convention.
Lynette Apen, DNP, CNS, RN, CNE, OADN President, emphasized
the importance of supporting students as they prepare to enter the profession.
“Financial barriers can often be greatest during the final stages of a student’s nursing education. The Brian Bright Annual Senior ADN Student Scholarships will provide meaningful support to ADN students as they prepare to graduate and enter the nursing workforce. We are deeply grateful for this investment in the future of nursing and the communities our graduates will serve.”
Brian Bright, investor and founder of the scholarship, shared his motivation for supporting ADN students.
“Associate Degree in Nursing programs play a vital role in educating
the nation’s nursing workforce. I am honored to support students who are nearing completion of their programs and preparing to begin their careers. I look forward to meeting the scholarship recipients and celebrating their accomplishments at future OADN conventions.”
Rick García, PhD, RN, CCM, FAAOHN, FAADN, FAAN, Chief Executive Officer of OADN and the OADN Foundation, highlighted the impact the investment will have on students completing their programs.
“This is truly wonderful news. I am thrilled for the OADN
Foundation, OADN, and especially for our senior nursing students who will benefit from these funds during their final year of education, when many need financial support to help them across the finish line. Investments like this strengthen the ADN pathway and support the next generation of nurses entering practice.”
The Brian Bright Annual Senior ADN Student Scholarships reflect a shared commitment to strengthening the nursing workforce by supporting ADN students as they transition from education to professional practice. Application available here.
