Dr. Morris brings extensive experience in nursing education and scholarship
Washington, DC — The Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN) and Teaching and Learning in Nursing (TELN) are pleased to announce the appointment of Dawn Morris, PhD, MSN, RN, CNE, JD, as Associate Editor of the journal.
Dr. Morris brings a distinctive and highly valued interdisciplinary perspective to the editorial team, with expertise spanning nursing education, clinical practice, law, and health systems leadership. She currently serves as Assistant Professor of Nursing at Tulane University and has held faculty appointments across multiple institutions, contributing to both pre-licensure and advanced nursing education.
With a career that uniquely integrates nursing and law, Dr. Morris has practiced as a registered nurse in pediatric intensive care and home health settings and as an attorney specializing in insurance defense and workers’ compensation. Her dual credentials position her as a national voice on legal, ethical, and regulatory issues in nursing education and practice.
Dr. Morris is an active member of leading professional organizations, including the American Nurses Association and the American Association of Nurse Attorneys. Her scholarship focuses on nursing education innovation, academic integrity, artificial intelligence in education, and legal and ethical frameworks in nursing. She is a prolific author and contributor to Teaching and Learning in Nursing, where she has published extensively on accreditation, faculty engagement, and emerging educational technologies.
Her editorial experience includes service as an invited peer reviewer for multiple high-impact journals and as an Editorial Advisory Board Member for The Journal of Nursing Management. She also authors recurring columns on accreditation and legal issues, further demonstrating her commitment to advancing nursing scholarship and faculty development.
