Dr. Elizabeth (Liz) S. Robison is a nationally recognized nurse educator, simulation expert, and leader in the integration of emerging technologies within nursing education. With more than four decades of service in nursing practice within higher education, healthcare simulation, and military leadership, she has built a distinguished career dedicated to preparing the next generation of nurses and advancing excellence in teaching, learning, and professional development.
A retired full professor of nursing, Dr. Robison now serves as an independent consultant supporting academic programs, faculty, and simulation teams across the United States and internationally. Her areas of expertise include curriculum development, instructional technology, simulation design and implementation, faculty development, environmental sustainability in simulation, and responsible use of generative artificial intelligence in nursing education. She has become a sought-after speaker and facilitator, delivering numerous workshops, webinars, and presentations for national organizations, conferences, and academic institutions. Her recent scholarly contributions include peer-reviewed publications on simulation prebriefing using AI-generated podcasts, best practices for environmental sustainability in simulation, and the development of prompt templates to support simulation design.
Dr. Robison’s academic preparation reflects both depth and diversity across nursing and education. She completed her Doctor of Education and Education Specialist degrees at the University of West Florida, specializing in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Instructional Technology. She also holds a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a Master of Science in Adult Education from Troy State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Duke University. Her professional certifications further underscore her commitment to excellence, including the Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential from the National League for Nursing and the Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator-Advanced (CHSE-A) credential from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. She is deeply engaged in continuing professional growth, completing multiple advanced programs in generative AI, prompt engineering, automations, voice agents, RAG systems, and AI product development.
Before transitioning into higher education and consultation, Dr. Robison served 22 years in the United States Air Force Nurse Corps, where she held diverse clinical, instructional, and administrative roles around the world. Notably, she was the first nurse appointed as a faculty member and curriculum director at the Air Force’s Squadron Officers’ School, where she led a major curriculum redesign that strengthened leadership development opportunities for junior officers. Her military career was marked by numerous awards and honors recognizing her leadership and contributions.
Throughout her academic career at Northwest Florida State College, Dr. Robison taught across the ADN program and served as the Simulation Center Coordinator, directing operations for a multi-room simulation facility and leading major initiatives in program evaluation, technology enhancement, and student success. She played a key role in restructuring the nursing curriculum, expanding simulation integration, and advancing the college’s adoption of virtual and digital resources. She has also served in statewide roles, including appointment to Florida’s Medical Statewide Subject Area Discipline Committee, where she evaluated military training for college credit to support service members and veterans.
Dr. Robison’s influence extends across multiple professional organizations. She is a Fellow in the Academy of Associate Degree Nursing (FAADN), recipient of the 2025 OADN Bobbie Anderson Leadership Award, and a lifetime member of INACSL, where she has held leadership roles including board Treasurer/Secretary, Financial Oversight Committee Chair, Environmental Sustainability SIG member, and Co-Chair of the AI in Simulation SIG. She also serves as Secretary on the OADN Board of Directors, a member of the Florida Center for Nursing Well-Being Advisory Board, manuscript reviewer for Teaching and Learning in Nursing and Clinical Simulation in Nursing journals, and an active leader in the Florida Nurses Association’s Nurse Educator SIG.
Her commitment to mentoring is reflected in her long history of supporting graduate students, DNP candidates, and emerging nurse educators, as well as her dedication to reviewing scholarships, abstracts, and professional recognition programs. She also hosts two podcast series focused on AI literacy and topics of importance in nursing education.
Dr. Robison continues to champion forward-thinking, evidence-informed approaches to teaching and simulation, with a passion for helping educators navigate rapid changes in technology, policy, and practice. Her work reflects a career-long commitment to service, scholarship, and advancing the nursing profession through creativity, collaboration, and innovation.
