Dr. Melissa L. Mastorovich, DNP, RN, BC, FAADN, serves as Editor-in-Chief of Teaching and Learning in Nursing, the official journal of the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN), following her tenure as Associate Editor since 2022.
Dr. Mastorovich is the senior clinician at STAT Nursing Consultants, Inc., a nurse-owned and operated educational consultation firm based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. With more than 35 years of experience, she has worked extensively with nursing students and graduates to strengthen test-taking skills and improve NCLEX performance.
Her scholarly work focuses on test and performance anxiety, NCLEX preparation, strategies for supporting academically struggling students, and the evaluation of nursing students. She has published widely in these areas, including recent work co-authoring a review of systematic reviews with fellow nurse editors.
Dr. Mastorovich is an experienced educator who has delivered numerous faculty development workshops on test anxiety, measurement and evaluation, and interventions to support student success. She is also the author of A Good Thinking Approach to the NCLEX and Other Nursing Exams, which emphasizes critical thinking and clinical reasoning in exam preparation. She was inducted as a Fellow of the Academy of Associate Degree Nursing in 2022.
In addition to her academic and consulting roles, she maintains active clinical practice as a Senior Professional Nurse on the solid organ transplant unit at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
