Rick García, PhD, RN, CCM, FAAOHN, FNYAM, FAADN is passionate about innovations in nursing education and brings these skills and talents to his position of Chief Executive Officer at the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN), and the OADN Foundation. Dr. García has held a variety of positions at many academic institutions, Miami-Dade Community College, and most recently at Georgetown University, School of Nursing, Founding Ph.D. program faculty, and the New York University Rory Meyers College of Nursing. In addition, to his work to increase RN Workforce Supply in communities with education deserts, Dr. García’s regulatory experience has allowed him to serve as an RN  member on the District of Columbia Board of Nursing (BON), chair of the D.C. BON education sub-committee; he served as the executive director of the Florida Board of Nursing; and as an RN member on the New York State Board of Nursing (NYSBON) as well as chair of the practice committee of the NYSBON.

Rick resides in Washington, D.C., and in his free time, he likes to cycle, take long walks, spend time outdoors exploring, listening to Capital Hill live jazz singers, and catching up with family and friends. Rick gives back through the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN), the American Midwifery Certification Board, and the Florida State Association of Occupational Health Nurses (FSAOHN).  Rick has been recognized as the FSAOHN Nurse of the Year 2016, and in 2017 was inducted as a AAOHN Fellow for his professional contributions and service.  Rick has been inducted as Fellow to the New York Academy of Medicine, and is a Fellow of the Academy of Associate Degree Nursing.
