Teaching and Learning in Nursing (TELN), the official journal of the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing, is celebrating significant growth in its scholarly influence, manuscript submissions, and editorial leadership.
Journal Impact Factor Rises to 2.5
TELN achieved a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 2.5, up from 1.7, representing a 47 percent increase and a significant milestone in the journal’s growth.
Within the Nursing category, TELN advanced from 87th to 49th place and from the 55th to the 75th percentile. The journal remains in Q2 but has moved substantially higher within the quartile and is now approaching Q1.
TELN’s CiteScore also increased from 2.8 to 2.9, while the journal maintained Q2 standing across all three categories:
- Fundamentals and Skills: Ranked 7th
- Leadership and Management: Ranked 17th, up from 20th
- Research and Theory: Ranked 10th
These results reflect TELN’s growing visibility, relevance, and influence in nursing education scholarship. They are especially encouraging given the journal’s substantial increase in publication volume, demonstrating that continued growth has been accompanied by strong editorial standards and scholarly impact.
Manuscript Submissions Continue to Grow
TELN has received 1,309 manuscript submissions since the beginning of 2026, underscoring its expanding reach among nursing education scholars.
To support this growth and maintain a timely, rigorous, and constructive review process, TELN has expanded both its editorial leadership team and Editorial Board.
Jaime Reigel Appointed Associate Editor
TELN is pleased to welcome Jaime Reigel, DNP, APRN, AGNP-C, PMHNP-C as the journal’s second associate editor, completing TELN’s editorial leadership team.
Dr. Reigel is a neurosurgery nurse practitioner in Mankato, Minnesota, with more than 15 years of experience spanning neurosurgery, psychiatric mental health, nursing education, leadership, and research. She also serves as an adjunct nursing instructor at Viterbo University, where she supports the development of future nurses through mentorship, clinical guidance, and professional development.
Dr. Reigel brings extensive scholarly and editorial experience to TELN. She serves as Senior Editor for The Nurses Magazine and has contributed as a manuscript reviewer, abstract reviewer, textbook reviewer, and participant in the development of evidence-based clinical resources. Her combination of clinical expertise, academic experience, editorial leadership, and commitment to nursing scholarship will be an important asset as TELN continues to expand.
TELN Welcomes Four New Editorial Board Members
TELN has also appointed three new members to its Editorial Board: Carey S. Cadieux, Mauro Parozzi, and Erica Sciarra.
Carey S. Cadieux, Ph.D., RN, AHN-BC, RYT, FAAN
Carey S. Cadieux, is an associate professor in the Division of Nursing at Binghamton University’s Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences. A nurse since 1994, Dr. Cadieux brings extensive clinical and teaching experience spanning medical-surgical nursing, pediatrics, community health, hospice, parish nursing, camp nursing, and nursing education across the academic spectrum.
Recognized as a subject matter expert in medical cannabis, Dr. Cadieux has educated thousands of nurses through presentations, podcasts, and her award-winning textbook, Cannabis: A Handbook for Nurses. Her research includes medical cannabis education, adverse childhood experiences, and caring-centered nursing curricula. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, a past president of the American Cannabis Nurses Association, and an active advocate on related social justice and policy issues.
Holly Kapusinski, MSN, RN, NC-BC, CPNP-PC, APRN
Holly Kapusinski joins TELN as an Editorial Board member and the journal’s first Social Media Director. She is senior faculty and course coordinator for the Integrative Nurse Coach Certificate Program at the Integrative Nurse Coach® Academy. A certified pediatric nurse practitioner and board-certified nurse coach, she is also the owner of Life Cycle Balance and a nurse coach consultant with Vitalize Care, providing individual and group coaching for healthcare professionals and organizations.
Kapusinski is a national speaker, presenter, author, and host of the Nurse Converse Podcast presented by Nurse.org. She serves as a practice board member of the American Holistic Nurses Association and brings additional preparation in mental health first aid, adolescent and adult sexual assault nurse examination, functional nutrition, and eating disorder care. Her expertise in holistic nursing, clinician well-being, communication, and audience engagement will bring a valuable perspective to the Editorial Board and help TELN extend the reach of its scholarship through social media.
Mauro Parozzi, Ph.D., MSN, RN
Mauro Parozzi, is a nursing researcher and educator in Italy whose scholarship focuses on nursing education, virtual simulation, gamification, and innovative teaching methodologies. He brings experience in clinical and academic tutoring, including coordinating nursing students’ professional learning experiences.
Dr. Parozzi’s research also addresses clinical practice and workforce issues across multiple areas of nursing care. His international perspective and growing body of nursing education scholarship will strengthen TELN’s engagement with educators and researchers worldwide and support its continued development as an international forum for nursing education scholarship.
Erica Sciarra, Ph.D., DNP, APN, A-GNP-C, CNE
Erica Sciarra, is an assistant professor at Monmouth University and a dual doctorally prepared, National League for Nursing-certified nurse educator with nearly 25 years of clinical and academic experience. She began her professional nursing journey as an associate degree graduate of the Muhlenberg School of Nursing and Union County College before continuing her education through the doctoral level.
Dr. Sciarra’s scholarship and leadership focus on evidence-based teaching, educator and student well-being, resilience, and workforce sustainability. She serves on the boards of the New Jersey League for Nursing and the National Consortium of Academic Nurse Educators, of which she is a founding member, and is a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine. Her experience as an ADN graduate, educator, scholar, and academic leader brings a valuable perspective to TELN.
